The WNY Breast Resource Center at Roswell
Park Cancer Institute, established in 1997, welcomes all breast cancer recipients and their families. This comminuty resource is offered free-of-charge, and provides everything from reference texts and information on diagnosis and treatment options, to children's books that help patients explain the disease to their youngest family members.
The Center is a place with a personal touch where medical jargon is translated into understandable terms and where anyone can come to begin to understand what breast cancer is, what medical procedures and tests mean, and why and how they are done. Most importantly, it's a place where people can find togetherness, hope and support---including introductions to breast cancer support groups and fellow patients - to help turn a cold and frightening disease into something that can be managed, fought and won.
The Breast Resource Center also helps with post surgery prostheses and bras, post chemo wigs and scarves, and has a very well stocked lending library of breast cancer related books, videos and CDs. Acceptance, comfort and good humor are never far away. Prescriptions are written for courage and hope, as needed. Spontaneous, on-the-spot "support groups" are encouraged and we keep cookies and coffee around just for those occasions!

Throw a Gift Gathering Party
Looking for a fun and different way to support ViVA for Life?
Try hosting a gift gathering party! The greatest source of revenue at our event is by way of the silent auction and gift basket raffles. We collect most of our gift basket items through gift gathering parties where a host will invite 20 or so friends over and ask that each of them bring a themed item, such as a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant, a bottle of their favorite wine, a sports themed item or any them you can imagine! Try a beach bum theme or a movie night theme.
Our dedicated auction and gift basket team assemble all the gift in attractive baskets which allow us to generate thousands of dollars in gift basket ticket sales and silent auction items.
